Metropolis Park lists volunteer attempts

A wide variety of cleanup times and initiatives are on tap at City Park to boost and preserve the intensive urban green space.

Those coming up include:

  • Litter Cleanup Krewe: 10 a.m. Tuesday. Litter elimination during the park. Also Dec. 20 and 27.
  • Graffiti Cleanup Krewe: 10 a.m. Dec. 22. Volunteers paint about graffiti and very clear debris. Also Dec. 29
  • Major Lake Indigenous Plant Path Restoration Venture: 8 a.m. Friday. Horticulture actions include weeding, elimination of plant particles, mulching, shoveling and other tasks to preserve native plant beds. Also Dec. 23 and 30.
  • Urban Forest Assistance Initiative: 9 a.m. Dec. 17. Forestry jobs involve trail clearing, vine removal and pruning.
  • Softball Elaborate Enhancement Project: 9 a.m. Dec. 20. Fence cleaning on the quadruplex, such as pulling and pruning. 35 Diagonal Travel.

PRC options house tour, patron occasion

The Preservation Source Center kicks off its vacation happenings with the 47th Vacation Household Tour and a bonus home Saturday and Sunday.

6 Back garden District properties, dressed for the holiday seasons, will be involved in the tour. There will also be tunes, a boutique, reserve signings and design and style talks.

Slidell homes open up in JA tour Sunday

Three luxury homes will be open for the Junior Auxiliary of Slidell’s Tour of Residences 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.

The homes, situated in The Bluffs, Tuscany Estates and Master’s Point, will attribute holiday getaway decor, as well as light-weight treats at every home. Addresses for the properties will be delivered on the tickets.

Fruit tree sale Dec. 17

The NOLA Tree Project’s once-a-year Fruit Tree Sale will aspect a wide range of citrus and other trees at Ye Olde School Inn from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 17.

Included in the list, for $45 every, are Meyer lemon, Owari satsuma, purple and Washington navel oranges, Louisiana Sweet Hamlin and Moro blood oranges, Rio purple grapefruit, tart kumquat, Persian and Key limes, Orlando tangelo, sunburst tangerine, sweet indigenous persimmon and Arbequina olive.

Mayhaw trees will be $25, even though Celeste and LSU Purple figs are $35 and Joey avocado are $55.

Tour and caroling set for French Quarter Dec. 18

Decorations abound in the French Quarter houses involved in the Patio Planters of the Vieux Carré’s once-a-year Holiday getaway Dwelling Tour.

The self-guided walking tour features 5 private residences from noon to 4 p.m. Dec. 18. A constrained quantity of tickets will be marketed.

A selection of dwelling models and decors will be integrated in the party, which precedes the yearly Caroling in Jackson Sq. at 7 p.m.

On the net tickets and working day-of tickets can be acquired at the Cabildo, 701 Chartres St., on the square, commencing at 11 a.m.
