Three notable St. Louis homes, decorated in holiday splendor, will open their doors for this peek into the past. The Campbell House Museum was built in 1851 and reflects the high opulence of the 1880s. The Chatillon-Demenil mansion was built as a farmhouse and was expanded and renovated in a Greek Revival style in 1863. Roswell Field, a lawyer for Dred Scott, lived in the Field House museum, as well as his son, children’s poet Eugene Field. Light refreshments will be served at each home.

Daniel and Rebecca Boone reenactors will visit the site of his former home to reminisce about winters past as thousands of candles illuminate the village and storytellers talk about past holiday celebrations.

There will be 10 historic village homes decorated for the holidays and open to the public during Elsah’s annual Home for the Holidays celebration. Also open are a school house, the museum, the churches, shops and bed-and-breakfasts. Rides on a horse-drawn carriage are available for free. This tour is the main fundraiser for Historic Elsah Foundation preservation efforts.

Four homes decorated by some of St. Louis’ top design teams and talented homeowners will be open for self-guided tours. This tour is hosted by St. Louis Homes + Lifestyles and SSM Health Cardinal Glennon, and proceeds benefit children cared for by the hospital.

Ten homes will be open for this year’s Hermann Holiday House Tour, with a trolley available for $5 to give rides to homes in the city limits. There’s also a Kristkindl Markt at Stone Hill Winery from 10 a.m.-5 p.m.. The Deutschheim State Historic Site in Hermann is hosting its own open house with demonstrations and activities from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., and tablescapes are on display at the historic rotunda building at Upper City Park.

The mansion built in 1908 for Charles Stockstrom, founder of the Quick Meal and Magic Chef Stove Co., is decorated for the holidays and open for tours. The 12,000-square-foot home has been painstakingly restored and includes original lighting fixtures and period furnishings.

Explore 12 homes decorated for the season in the historic Lafayette Square neighborhood. Ticket holders can enjoy carriage rides in Lafayette Park and trolley stops around the neighborhood. A holiday market on Park Avenue will be held Dec. 3-4, with Santa appearing Dec. 3 from 4-6 p.m. and the neighborhood’s annual tree lighting at 5 p.m.

Stroll through historic homes at Faust Historic Village that are decorated for the holidays in eras from the 1860s through the 1960s. The village is a collection of homes and buildings from throughout St. Louis County that were moved to Faust Park in order to save them from demolition.
